Chapman University Program in Mathematics, Philosophy, and Physics
Research
My research centers on philosophy of mathematics and logic. My current focus is mathematical modality, particularly how possible constructions contribute to mathematical necessity.
Teaching
My teaching experience includes courses in logic and philosophy. My approach is that, as archetypes of human reasoning, philosophy and mathematics must be available to everyone.
Interests
Mathematical modality (necessity and possibility)ConstructivismSemantic antirealismFoundations of mathematicsFormal epistemology
I show that while Dorothy Edgington's answer to Fitch's paradox is formally adequate, it cannot overcome Williamson's 'transworld knowability' objection; I consider how semantic anti-realists could proceed in light of this outcome.
